DescriptionWe are looking for a talented Field Service Power Generation Technician to join our team specializing in generator repairs for our sales and service location located in Kearny, NJ.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
Completing preventative maintenance and repairs on generators or components at the customer site with minimal direction.
Engaging with customers in a courteous and professional manner.
Applying the use of specialized tools and following documented procedures and policies to diagnose and complete basic repairs, including preparing required parts and tools.
Completing required documentation, such as service worksheets, timesheets, warranty claims via handwritten forms or business system input screens.
Completing training in line with skill and business requirements.
Adhere to all our relevant Health, Safety & Environmental policies, procedures and legislation and reports any issues / incidents to their supervisor.
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
Broad mechanical and electrical repair and maintenance abilities.
High Voltage / Low Voltage experience.
Capable of electrical repair and maintenance with minimal supervision – hands on exposure to working on power generation products.
Flexibility to work various hours and days of the week with the ability to be on call and available for emergency needs
Must meet all requirements to drive a Company vehicle including a valid driver’s license and insurance
Must be able to physically lift 50 pounds occasionally, wear required personal protective equipment as required
Locally valid driving permit
Education, Licenses, CertificationsApprentice Trained Power Generation/ Electrical Technician (Preferred)Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution
Current relevant electrical certification
Locally valid driving permit
This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
ExperienceMinimal level of workshop related experience required.
Basic level knowledge of and/or experience with power generation products
High Voltage/ Low Voltage experience
This is a Union shop, and this is a Union role. Candidate will have to join the Union.
Hours are Monday-Friday 730AM-4PM Hours are Subject to change due to business needs.
This position will require a Med-Card and we will also be required to complete a DMV driving report. CANDIDATE MUST BE 21 YEARS OLD.
A current valid license is required for this role
This role requires a 5 year motor vehicle report, free from major violations
This role requires applicant to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical
3 years driving experience.
This role is subject to Department of Transportation (DOT) driving regulations including Hours of Service and Electronic Log Booking Device use
Federal law requires a CDL holder to be 21 years of age or older, applicant must be 21 years of age.
Qualifications For Different Technician Levels
Technician Level I: Limited relevant technician experience; qualified to perform work on a minimal number of products in-scope a for diesel technician at this location; primarily engaged in maintenance or basic repairs/diagnostics; requires direct supervision and review of workmanship quality.
Technician Level II _:_ Some relevant technician experience; qualified to perform work on an intermediate number of products in-scope for technician at this location; primarily engaged in moderately complex maintenance and repair; some exposure to moderate or complex diagnostics, requires limited direct supervision, may provide basic training or guidance to new technicians.
Technician Level III : Significant relevant technician experience; qualified to perform work on most or all of products in-scope for technician at this location; frequently engaged in complex diagnosis and repair; requires minimal to no supervision; ability to effectively train and guide less experienced technicians of varying skillsets.
Compensation And BenefitsSalary Range - $38.03 - $47.27Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
