What Are The Two Most Important Questions For Your Life? (3)

“The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why.”

Mark Twain

Man has been searching for meaning since the beginning of time.

We all wonder why we were are here, and how our life will make a difference after we are gone.

You have probably asked yourself these questions at one point or another.

I think that it all boils down to the two most important questions in life, “Why am I here?” and “What am I going to do about it?”

“Efforts and courage are not enough without purpose and direction.”

John F. Kennedy

This question is about the purpose of your life.

You can ask yourself this question in several different ways…

“Why am I here?”

“What is my life about?”

”What is the purpose of my existence?”

The Christian tradition teaches that God has a purpose and plan your life.

Even non-Christians want to believe that their life has a purpose.

In his book, “One Big Thing,” Phil Cooke refers to this as our “One Big Thing.”

Your purpose is bigger than any obstacle like physical limitations, financial circ*mstances, being fired, or other failures. Nothing can change the fact that you have a unique reason for being here, and there’s still time for it to play out.”

Phil Cooke

So, what is your “One Big Thing?”

What is your unique reason for being here?

What were you born to accomplish?

What is your life purpose?

In an article in Psychology Today, Tchiki Davis, Ph.D.
laid out a simple five step process that can help you find your life purpose:

Step 1: Ask yourself what pain or injustice touches you so much that it drives you to do something about it.

Step 2: Ask yourself what keeps you going when you get tired, burned out and want to quit.

Step 3: Ask yourself what in the one thing that are you are willing to give up everything to accomplish?

Step 4: Ask yourself, who are the specific people that you want to help.

Step 5: Ask yourself how you want to help.

“You are not here merely to make a living. You are here in order to enable the world to live more amply, with greater vision, with a finer spirit of hope and achievement. You are here to enrich the world, and you impoverish yourself if you forget the errand.”

Unknown

Once you have found your life purpose the question becomes, “What are you going to do about it?”

Are you going to continue to live your life as you are living it now?

Or, are you going to make the changes required to live your life purpose?

What kind of changes am I talking about?

There are three specific changes that you should make once you know your life purpose:

  1. Create a life plan. A life plan will give you a road-map to help you get from where you are to where you want to be.
  2. Implement productivity system that will give you the tools to execute your life plan.
  3. Develop your personal brand and a platform that will allow you to share your life purpose with others.

“You were put on this earth to achieve your greatest self, to live out your purpose, and to do it courageously.”

Steve Maraboli, Life, the Truth, and Being Free

Does your life have a purpose?

What are you going to do about it?

Now, I’d like to hear from you. What is your life purpose? What is one change that you can make today that will help you share your life purpose with the world?
