Dire Straits was the sultan of speed in the $12,000 fast-class trotting feature on Thursday afternoon (Aug. 29) at Harrah’s Philadelphia, making a strong mid-race move to command and then powering off to a 5-1/4-length victory in 1:52.

Paulina Hanover hadn’t been on top at any call in her last six starts, yet she led every step — and matched the 1:52 stakes record — in Thursday’s (Aug. 29) $142,798 Pennsylvania Sire Stakes at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows. Sambuca Hanover captured the other division in the event, known as the Stenographer, for sophomore filly trotters.

Delayed Hanover got his second win in his last three starts at Plainridge Park with an easy score in Thursday’s (Aug. 29) $25,000 Open Handicap Trot.
