Fascination with the BabyCakes Cake Pop Maker continues. I'm always on the lookout for cake pop maker recipes. Every time I prepare something I wonder, "How would this one turn out?" (Obsessed? Probably!)

Quite often I am pleasantly surprised by the results.

Below you will find the results of my most recent experiments. It turns out you can cook some unexpected recipes in this trendy kitchen appliance and have quite a bit of fun in the process.

Parmesan Crusted Scallops

Three Surprising Cake Pop Maker Recipes (2)

A sea scallop is the *perfect* size for the little well in the cake pop maker. They crisp up nicely on both sides with the flip-over model.

Recipe and Cooking Instructions:

1. Prepare the scallops using the Broiled Scallops with a Parmesan Crust recipe.

2. Brush a little olive oil over the wells of the cake pop maker with a pastry brush.

3. Preheat the cake pop maker.

4. Place the scallops in the wells and cook for about 4 minutes, turning half-way through if you have a flip-over model. The scallops should be white when you cut them in half.

5. If you are going to make a second batch, then use the pastry brush to dust out any breading left behind before you put the next one in.

The good - The scallops cooked perfectly and there was very little mess. Also, since the portion size is about 6 scallops per person, I only needed to go through the cooking process 2-3 times.

The bad - This recipe is a winner. Other than having to do the process twice to feed a family of four, I was thrilled with the outcome and this may be one of my favorite cake pop maker recipes. If only one or two people are involved, it's much easier than cooking them in the oven.

Would I make it again? Absolutely.

Meatballs

Three Surprising Cake Pop Maker Recipes (4)

Meatballs are another option for a cake pop maker. Aren't they cute?

Recipe and Instructions:

1. Prepare the Gourmet Meatloaf recipe. Adjust the yield based upon your needs. I make up the whole amount and then make some meatballs and some mini meatloaves. We eat dinner and then freeze some portions (uncooked) for later.

2. Make the meatballs no more than a Tablespoon in size, preferably just a bit smaller...you will see why this is important in a moment.

3. Preheat the cake pop maker.

4. Cook the meatballs for 5-6 minutes or until no longer pink in the middle.

Caution: If you have a flip-over model, then turn at your own risk. The wells fill up with fat juices as the meatballs cook. (I finally figured out why a pan comes with this model. 🙂 I did not turn mine in the middle and they came out just fine.

The good - They tasted just like the meatballs from the oven.

The bad - Messy, messy, messy. Even though I didn't flip them over while cooking, I still had to contend with all the grease. I only made one batch. Making two batches would have been difficult.

Would I make it again? I'll be honest. This is not one of my favorite cake pop maker recipes. But, I might do it again if I needed just one batch.

Crab Cake Bites

Three Surprising Cake Pop Maker Recipes (5)

Little bite-sized crab cakes can also be made in this nifty machine.

Recipe and Instructions:

1. Prepare the Maryland Style Lump Crab Cake recipe, but make the crab cakes in Tablespoon size balls.

2.Brush a little olive oil over the wells of the cake pop maker with a pastry brush.

3. Preheat the cake pop maker.

4. Cook the crab cakes for about 4-5 minutes or until slightly browned on the outside, turning halfway through if you have the flipping model.

The good - It was quick, easy and not too messy to make the crab cakes. They were perfectly browned too.

The bad - It will take several rounds if you are serving more than 2 people.

Would I make it again? Yes. Next time I make the full crab cake recipe, I will make up 12 Tablespoon sized balls (the equivalent of 3 crab cakes) to freeze and make for a nice lunch treat when I am all by lonesome.

Pizza Bites & Donut Holes Cake Pop Maker Recipes

Our love affair with the cake pop maker began because we needed a quick and easy way to make donut holes. Then came the pizza bites. These remain the most popular cake pop maker recipes at our house.

In a moment's notice we can whip out a can of Pillsbury crescent rolls, cut it into 24 squares, drop about a teaspoonful of filling on the square, roll it and 3 minutes later, dinner is served. My girls have a blast making these! I love the automatic portion control.

If you haven't seen one, check out the BabyCakes Cake Pop Makerin the Dinner-Mom store.

Three Cheese Rosemary and Garlic Pizza Bites

We use crescent roll dough or pizza dough for the donut holes. Decorating them is half the fun.
