A New Sci-Fi Adventure Awaits: Steven Spielberg’s ‘Disclosure Day’
In an exciting reveal during Super Bowl LX, Universal Pictures has introduced the first official full-length trailer for the highly anticipated sci-fi film, Disclosure Day. This film marks the legendary director Steven Spielberg’s return to the captivating realm of extraterrestrial storytelling, reminiscent of his iconic films such as Close Encounters of the Third Kind, E.T., and War of the Worlds.
Scheduled for theatrical release on June 12, Disclosure Day has kept much of its storyline a secret. However, the intriguing logline poses a thought-provoking question: What if you discovered that we are not alone in the universe? If someone presented irrefutable proof of extraterrestrial existence, would that knowledge instill fear in you? This summer, the weight of truth rests on the shoulders of seven billion people as we approach … Disclosure Day.
The initial teaser, which premiered back in December, featured actress Emily Blunt portraying a weather reporter who struggles to maintain her composure as she becomes overtaken by an unseen force. This unsettling scene hints at the larger chaos occurring in the world, which seems to attract the attention of both wild animals and nuns.
Disclosure Day serves as Spielberg’s follow-up to his critically acclaimed film The Fabelmans, a semi-autobiographical drama released in 2022 that garnered seven Oscar nominations. The impressive cast includes Josh O’Connor, Colin Firth, Eve Hewson, and Colman Domingo, adding significant talent to this compelling narrative.
The story was conceived by Spielberg himself, while his long-time collaborator David Koepp crafted the screenplay. Both Spielberg and Koepp have previously worked together on several blockbuster hits, including Jurassic Park, War of the Worlds, and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. They produce the film under their Amblin Entertainment company, alongside producer Kristie Macosko Krieger.
