Oldham RLFC Statement: Addressing Rumors, Bill Quinn's Ban, and Boundary Park Dispute (2026)

Statement from Oldham RLFC

In light of recent media coverage and speculation, Oldham RLFC wishes to address several matters of public concern. Firstly, the club confirms that owner and Chairman Bill Quinn is currently facing a 12-month ban following allegations made by the board of Oldham Athletic. Bill Quinn denies these allegations and has engaged legal representation to address the situation. The club stands firmly behind Bill Quinn in this matter.

Secondly, the club would like to clarify that there are no unpaid bills or financial difficulties. The source of these claims is unclear, and the club finds them to be misleading. The club is committed to transparency and financial stability.

A contractual dispute regarding the use of Boundary Park has also arisen with Oldham Athletic. Both parties claim to be owed revenues by the other, leading to a disagreement. Oldham RLFC has proposed mediation as per the contract's dispute resolution terms, a process that would be legally binding. The club is willing to accept the mediator's decision.

However, Oldham Athletic has refused to participate in mediation and has stated that Boundary Park will remain unavailable until the dispute is resolved. This has resulted in the cancellation of the Law Cup game, leaving the dispute unresolved. Oldham RLFC has contacted the local authority for assistance and is seeking legal advice.

Due to the unavailability of Boundary Park, the club had to find an alternative venue for the Challenge Cup fixture against Orrell St James. Despite securing a new venue, Oldham Athletic has now proposed conditions that the club deems unacceptable. As a result, Oldham RLFC is currently unable to play at Boundary Park.

The club expresses disappointment at having to relocate the fixture outside the borough, but it is grateful for the support of Stalybridge Celtic, who stepped in at short notice. Oldham RLFC hopes to have its supporters' backing at Bower Fold on Sunday afternoon.

The club invites fans to show their support and looks forward to a positive resolution to the current situation.
