First Look at Gloria Osteria: Dublin's Opulent 1970s Italian Restaurant Opening (2026)

Prepare to be whisked away to a culinary adventure like no other! Gloria Osteria, Dublin's newest gem, is set to transport you to the heart of Italy with its unique blend of opulence and nostalgia.

A Taste of Italy in the Heart of Dublin

The Big Mamma Group, known for its grand vision and dedication to Italian cuisine, is bringing its magic to the Emerald Isle. With a mission to create an authentic yet innovative dining experience, this French-Italian powerhouse is about to shake up Dublin's restaurant scene.

But here's where it gets intriguing: the group's managing director, Enrico Pireddu, reveals a deep connection to Dublin's community vibe, which inspired their choice of location.

Finding the Perfect Spot

The search for the ideal venue led them to a historic corner on Westmoreland Street, opposite Trinity College. The former AIB building, now transformed by Big Mamma's in-house design team, Studio Kiki, is a testament to their vision. Senior interior designer Chloe Townsend, a native Dubliner, played a pivotal role, ensuring the space would blossom into a unique dining destination.

Townsend's favorite touch? The Bambi chairs, a nod to the deer in Phoenix Park, adding a whimsical element to the opulent surroundings.

Art, Design, and a Touch of Magic

Big Mamma's commitment to unique art and design is evident throughout Gloria Osteria. The deep wine-red walls create a dramatic backdrop for the magnificent red glass chandeliers and the marble bar. Vintage headscarves, costume jewelry, and even a priest's vestment adorn the walls, alongside cool 1960s photos, creating a vibrant and eclectic atmosphere.

And this is the part most people miss: the attention to detail extends to the handmade plates, each a work of art in its own right.

A Menu with a Twist

Executive Chef Filippo La Gattuta, alongside Head Chef Davide Migallo, has crafted a menu that pays homage to traditional Italian recipes with a modern twist. From sweet tomato Tarte Tatin to fresh, daily-made pasta, each dish tells a story.

La Gattuta emphasizes the importance of their producers, many of whom are small, family-run businesses, a partnership that adds a personal touch to the dining experience.

A Dublin-Inspired Delight

The Dublin menu showcases a unique blend of Italian classics and local favorites. Veal osso bucco cooked with Guinness and served on creamy polenta is a nod to the city's love for a good stout. And let's not forget the show-stopping lemon pie, a tangy delight served under a dramatic dome of torched meringue, sure to become an Instagram sensation.

A Culinary Journey with a Price Tag

Prices at Gloria Osteria range from €5 for a house focaccia to €45 for a luxurious lobster ravioli topped with caviar. The wine list, an Italian affair, complements the menu perfectly, with classic cocktails adding a touch of sophistication.

An Experience for All

With seating for 180 across multiple sections, Gloria Osteria caters to various dining preferences. From cozy couches to intimate tables, every seat offers a unique perspective. And for our furry friends, Gloria Osteria is dog-friendly, providing bowls and blankets for their comfort.

Open from 12 pm to 11:30 pm Sunday to Wednesday, and until midnight on Thursdays to Saturdays, Gloria Osteria is set to become a hotspot for food enthusiasts. Bookings are now available on their website, so don't miss out on this culinary adventure!
